How to Update Your Ring Camera
1 Introduction: Ring Camera: Update
The operating system that your device runs on is called "firmware". Each device make and model has firmware that was specifically made for it. From time to time, manufacturers offer firmware updates in order to add new security, fix vulnerabilities, or other enhancements like performance upgrades.
2 Ring Camera: Update
Ring devices update their firmware automatically. The only requirement is for the camera to be connected to the Internet through the Wi-Fi connection.
Determining the firmware version for a Ring Camera can be done using the Ring app:
- From the dashboard, tap on the camera you want to check the firmware version for.
- Then tap on Device Health.
- Look for Firmware. If the camera has the latest firmware it will show Up to date. If it shows a number, the firmware needs to be updated.
- There are no further steps necessary as Ring will update automatically.
