Add Wireless Control Outlet to Ikea Tradfri Gateway

1. Introduction

In This Guide

You'll Learn How To:

• Add an Ikea Tradfri control outlet to the Ikea Tradfri gateway

You'll Need:

• The Ikea Tradfri app already installed on your mobile device
• The Ikea Tradfri gateway already installed in your home and set up in the app
• A control device such as a remote control, wireless dimmer or motion sensor to be already added to the gateway
• A small standard screwdriver

2. Add Control Outlet

1. Launch the Ikea Tradfri app on your mobile device.
   

1. Tap Settings in the top right corner.
   

1. Select Manage your devices.
   

1. Then tap Add.
   

1. And select Control outlet.
   

1. You'll be shown a screen with instructions on what to do. We are already covering these steps but you can scroll up and down through them if needed. Choose the control device you want to link the control outlet with.
   

3. Link Outlet with Wireless Dimmer

To complete the following steps, you will need the control outlet, wireless dimmer and mobile device handy.

With the Wireless Dimmer

1. Plug the control outlet into a working power outlet.
   

1. Press the wireless dimmer against the palm of your hand and turn the cover counter clockwise then lift it to remove it.
   

1. Place the wireless dimmer within an inch of the control outlet then press and hold the Link button on the front for at least 10 seconds.
   

1. Replace the cover and turn it clockwise to secure it.
   

On Your Mobile Device

5. You should get a confirmation message on the mobile device that the control outlet was found. Tap OK to finish.
   

4. Link Outlet with Remote Control

To complete the following steps, you will need the control outlet, remote control and mobile device handy.

With the Remote Control

1. Plug the control outlet into a wall outlet.
   

1. Use a screwdriver or a similar tool to remove the battery cover of the remote control.
   

1. Place the remote control within an inch of the outlet then press and hold the Link button next to the battery for at least 10 seconds.
   

1. Replace the battery cover.
   

On Your Mobile Device

5. You should get a confirmation message on the mobile device that the control outlet was found. Tap OK to finish.
   

5. Link Outlet with Motion Sensor

To complete the following steps, you will need the control outlet, motion sensor and mobile device handy.

With the Motion Sensor

1. Plug the control outlet into a wall outlet.
   

1. Place the motion sensor within an inch of the outlet then press and hold the Link button on the back for at least 10 seconds.
   

On Your Mobile Device

3. You should get a confirmation message on the mobile device that the control outlet was found. Tap OK to finish.
