1. Introduction: August Doorbell Cam: Basic Setup

August Doorbell Cam Pro lets you answer your door from anywhere using your phone or tablet. It constantly monitors your doorway and captures even the moments before it sends you a motion alert. It pairs to any August Smart Lock and can be used as a Wi-Fi bridge for them instead of the Connect.

This guide will assist you in setting up your Doorbell Cam.

2. August Home: Install iOS App

1. From the main screen, open the App Store.
   

1. At the bottom of the screen, tap on Search.
   

1. Type August Home on the search bar at the top.
2. Tap Search to start the search.
   

1. Tap the August Home App to see its download options.
   

1. Tap Get.
   

1. Tap OPEN once the app is installed.

3. August Doorbell Cam: Connect to App

1. Tap the Set Up a Doorbell Cam button.
   

1. Tap Start Setup.
   

1. If you have an August Smart Lock, it will ask you if you wish to connect the Doorbell cam to it. If you choose to do this, the cam will be given the same name as the lock and will be added to the house on the account.
   

1. If you do not have an August Smart Lock, you will be prompted to name your cam and create a house to add it to.
   

1. An Accessory Setup screen will appear that will get your Doorbell Cam connected to your network.
   

1. Select the Network and type in your credentials.
2. Wait for the device.
   

1. Tap Done.
   

1. Your Doorbell will connect and download new Firmware if needed.
   

1. Tap Continue.
   

4. August Doorbell Cam: Physical Installation

This guide will focus on installation on replacing an existing doorbell.

1. Confirm that your existing doorbell works by pressing it. This might sound obvious, but it never hurts to double check! August Doorbell Cam will only work properly when installed onto a working 12-24 volt wired doorbell system.
   

1. Turn off the circuit breaker or fuse that your doorbell is connected to, then verify that the power has been turned off by pressing the doorbell button again—you should not hear your doorbell chime this time.
   

1. Loosen the screws holding your existing doorbell in place and gently remove it from the wall.
   

1. Next, unfasten any wires attached to your existing doorbell. You should be left with two exposed wires coming from the wall. Remove any spare paint, adhesive or other debris near your doorbell so that your surface is as flat as possible.
   

1. Take the wedge and hold it flat against the wall where you want to install your August Doorbell Cam. You can hold the mounting plate against the top of the wedge, using its built-in level to properly position the wedge.
   

1. If needed take a pen and press it firmly into the center of the two holes in the wedge to mark the wall. This is where you'll drill your holes if you need them.Firmly holding the wedge against the wall where you drilled holes, take the two 1” screws included in the box and screw the mounting plate into the holes you previously drilled using a Phillips screwdriver.
   

1. Place the mounting plate onto the wedge, the notches on the back will align it into place when positioned properly. Use the smaller machine screws to attach the mounting plate to the wedge.
   

1. Loosen both of the screws on the gold wire connectors.
   

1. Place one of the wires coming from your wall underneath one of the the screw terminals on the mounting plate and screw it in, securing the wire to the mounting plate. It will help to curve the wire, then hook it clockwise around the screw before tightening.
   

1. Carefully push the connected wires back into the existing hole in your wall until there is very little slack in the wire.
   

1. Place the Doorbell Cam onto the mounting plate, aligning the tabs at the bottom to the recesses at the bottom of the mounting plate.Then slide it down until it sits into place.
   

1. You should now restore power to your doorbell.
   

1. Press the large circular button on the front of the device - if everything is wired correctly, you should hear your interior doorbell chime.
   

5. August Home: Install Android App

1. Launch the Play Store.
   

1. Search for August Home using the search box located at the top.
2. Touch the magnifying glass on the on-screen keyboard to search.
   

1. On the app's install page, touch INSTALL.
2. Review the install prompt that pops up. Once done, touch ACCEPT.
3. Wait for the download to finish. Once done, touch OPEN to launch August Home or go back to your apps to access the new app's icon.
