Introduction
Before You Begin:
You must have HomeKit set up in the first place.
1 Add Sylvania Smart+ Device to Apple HomeKit
- On your iPad or iPhone, open the Home app, then select Add Accessory.
- Your Sylvania Smart+ light, plug, switch, or sensor will have a setup code either on the device itself, its exterior packaging, or within the provided documentation. The Home app will urge you to scan it now.
There are a few different types of setup code currently available for Apple HomeKit enabled products.
Simple Setup Code You'll find this either on the box your accessory came in, or on the back or side of the device itself.
Advanced Setup Code Some devices require further information, and that's provided through a more complex-looking, machine readable code, called a QR code. This provides the extra setup information your iOS device needs, but keeps the process just as simple as pointing the camera at it.
Proximity Scanning Some devices have a small radio-activated chip in them, instead. This provides a wealth of handshake and setup information with even less work for you. Simply hold your phone or tablet next to the device, and it will be detected and setup instantly.
- You'll be asked to enter the details about the device, such as what room the device is in, the name you want to give it. Enter this information so it's easier to find in the future.
