Fix Issues with the Denon 500 Series Remote App

1. Introduction

The Denon AVRS530BT is remotely controllable via smartphone and tablet apps using Bluetooth. This step-by-step guide will help resolve issues that you would encounter with your Denon 500 Series Remote app. Before continuing let's restart your AVR.

2. Restart

Continue pressing the power button on the unit Restart appears in the display, or remove and re-insert the power cord of the unit.

3. Enable Bluetooth

  1. Use the scroll wheel or the quickselect buttons to select Bluetooth.

  1. With Bluetooth selected, press Option on your remote.

  1. The AVR will enter pairing mode.

4. Test

Open your Denon 500 Series Remote App and check if you can connect to your AVR.

5. Android or iOS

For the next steps, we need to determine what type of mobile device you have.

6. Delete Paired Bluetooth Device

  1. Swipe down on your screen to access the menu.
  2. Hold down on the Bluetooth icon to bring up Bluetooth options.

  1. Slide Bluetooth ON if it isn't already.

  1. Tap the gear icon next to the device you wish to unpair.

  1. The Bluetooth device has now been unpaired and can be added again if you wish.

7. Disable Bluetooth (Swipe)

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.

  1. Tap the Bluetooth icon. Bluetooth is off if the icon looks like this.

8. Uninstall Android App

Method 1:

  1. From the home screen, press the menu button.
  2. Locate the app you wish you uninstall.

  1. Press and hold your finger on the app that you wish to uninstall.
  2. Drag it to the icon on the top of your screen where it says "Uninstall".

  1. Tap on OK to confirm your action.

Method 2:

  1. From the home screen, press the menu button.
  2. Choose Settings.

  1. Find the app that you want to uninstall, then tap on it.

  1. Tap on OK to confirm your action.

9. Restart

  1. Hold down the power button on your Android device.
    Depending on the manufacturer and model of Android device you have, the location of the power button will vary.
  2. A prompt will appear on-screen. Select Restart.

If the menu does not pop up, continue to hold the power button, and your Android device will shut off.

  • If you had to shut down your Android device, wait 30 seconds before turning your device back on.

10. Enable Bluetooth

  1. Swipe down on your screen (or up, if using a tablet) to access the menu.
  2. Hold down on the Bluetooth icon to bring up Bluetooth options.

11. Install Android App

  1. Launch the Play Store on your smartphone.

  1. Select Install.

  1. You may be prompted to grant special permissions to the app on your device. If so, tap Accept to proceed.

12. Enable Bluetooth

  1. Use the scroll wheel or the quickselect buttons to select Bluetooth.

13. Setup App

  1. Open your Denon 500 Series Remote App.

  1. The first time you open the app, it will ask for you to detect available AVRs or add devices. Tap Detected Denon AVRs.

  1. Tap the AVR you have installed.

15. Delete Paired Bluetooth Device

  1. Navigate to Settings.

  1. Tap Bluetooth. Note: Bluetooth must be switched on for a list of devices to display.

  1. Tap the "i" icon to the right of the device name.

  1. Tap Forget this Device.

  1. Tap Forget this Device in the dialogue box. Your device is no longer recognized by your phone or tablet.

16. Disable Bluetooth (Swipe)

  1. Swipe up on your device from the main screen.

  1. Tap the Bluetooth icon.

17. Uninstall iOS App

  1. From your main screen, locate the Denon 500 Series Remote app.

  1. Lightly touch and hold the app until it jiggles or vibrates.
  2. Tap X in the upper-left corner of the app.
  3. Tap Delete.

18. Restart

Powering off an iPhone.
  1. Hold down the lock/power button.
  2. Slide to power off when prompted.
  3. Wait until the phone is off.
  4. Hold down the lock/power button until you see the Apple logo.

19. Enable Bluetooth

  1. Open Settings on your phone or tablet.

20. Install iOS App

  1. From the main screen, open the App Store.
