1 Room Sensor Usage & Limitations

How Do Room Sensors Work?

Most thermostats can only read the temperature in the room in which they are installed, which can end up making other rooms uncomfortable. Your ecobee Smart Thermostat utilizes Room Sensors that can be placed in the rooms of your home that you want to make sure are getting climate controlled properly. Your thermostat uses these wireless Room Sensors to monitor the temperatures across those rooms, average them out, and achieve optimal comfort.

Are There Any Limitations With ecobee Room Sensors?

Your ecobee Smart Thermostat can pair with up to 32 Room Sensors.

As an example, ecobee suggests placing Sensors in your home office, living area, and bedrooms in order for your Smart Thermostat to properly read the temperatures in those rooms.

If your home has multiple floors, ecobee recommends that there be at least one Room Sensor per floor to ensure that temperatures are averaging properly.
