How to Add a TP-Link Plug to Google Home

1. Introduction

This guide will show you how to link your TP-Link smart plug to Google Home. Google Home is a smart speaker that has the Google Assistant built-in. Google Assistant is a virtual assistant that can recognize human speech and allow you to manage or control your smart home devices with only your voice only.

Your smart plug must already be set up

Your Google Home device must already be set up

2. Link TP-Link Kasa Device

  1. Launch the Google Home app.

  1. Tap Add on the main screen.

  1. On the Add and manage screen, tap Set up device.

  1. Under Works with Google, tap Have something already set up?.

  1. Scroll through the list of smart home device providers and look for C by GE. Since the list is rather long you can also tap Search and enter the name to locate it quicker.

  1. Select TP-Link Kasa.

  1. Sign in with your Kasa account and allow Google Assistant to control your TP-Link Kasa devices using your voice.

  1. You'll be shown a list of devices that were imported from your Kasa account.
  2. Select a home and room for each device that was imported.
  3. You can now give voice commands to Google Assistant to control your linked devices.
