How To Add an ecobee Device to Microsoft Cortana

1. Introduction

In This Guide

You'll Learn How To:

• Connect your ecobee Smart Thermostat to your Microsoft account through Cortana.

Before We Begin:

• You must have your ecobee account setup.
• You must have a Microsoft Account.
• You must have your Cortana app setup.
• You will need a computer with internet access to link your accounts as shown.

2. Ensure Thermostat is Installed

In order to continue, you must already have your ecobee Smart Thermostat installed and setup.

3. Choose Your Operating System

To continue, we need to know what Operating System your computer or mobile device has.

For Computers

There are 2 main Operating Systems for personal computers currently available, Windows and macOS.

Windows

Windows runs on computers produced by multiple companies, such as Lenovo, Asus, Dell, Toshiba, Hewlett Packard, Acer, and Sony.

macOS

Apple is the only company that makes macOS computers.

For Mobile Devices

There are 2 main Operating Systems for smartphones currently available, Android and iOS.

Android Smartphone

Android smartphones are produced by multiple companies, such as Samsung, LG, Motorola, Sony, Nokia, Lenovo, and HTC.

iOS Smartphone

Apple is the only company that makes iOS smartphones.

4. Add ecobee Smart Thermostat (Windows)

1. Click the Start button in the bottom left corner.
   

1. Start typing anything to bring forth the search feature then click on Notebook.
   

1. Then go to Connected Home.
   

1. And switch on the toggle under Enable Connected Home.
   

1. Sign in with the Microsoft account you use with Cortana.
   

1. Click ecobee.
   

1. Click Connect.
   

1. Log into ecobee.
   

1. Authorize Cortana to use ecobee by clicking Accept.
   

1. Now you can give voice commands to Cortana to control your ecobee.
