How to Add Ikea Tradfri Light Bulbs to Wink

1. Introduction

With the Wink hub you can integrate a multitude of smart home devices and control them all from Wink app. Since the IKEA Tradfri light bulbs are Zigbee compatible you can connect them to the Wink system. This guide will show you how to do it.

2. Add IKEA Tradfri Light Bulb to Wink

To complete the following steps, you will need both your IKEA Tradfri light bulb and Wink hub in close proximity of each other.

You can set up multiple light bulbs at the same but they all need to be within close proximity of the Wink hub.

Prepare the Light Bulb for Setup

For easier setup, install the light bulb in an easy to move lamp first. Once it has been connected to your Wink hub, the light bulb can be relocated into the fixture you prefer.

1. Make sure your lamp is turned off.
2. Remove the existing light bulb.
3. Install the IKEA Tradfri light bulb.If the light bulb was already linked with a smart home system before, you will need to reset it by turning the light on and off six times in a row.
4. Place the light bulb within an inch of the Wink hub.
5. Switch over to your phone or tablet.Only turn your lamp on after you put the Wink hub in pairing mode with the Wink app.

Add the Light Bulb to Wink

6. Launch the Wink app on your phone or tablet.
   

6. Go to the Menu in the top left.
   

6. Then tap the plus sign to add a new device.

7. Select Lighting from the category list.
   

6. Select Lights from the list of device types.
   

6. Select Generic Zigbee Light Bulb from the list of light bulb types.
   

6. You'll be presented a list of instructions to prepare the light bulb for setup. We've already performed these so tap Next through each screen.
   

6. Tap Connect Now to put the Wink hub into pairing mode and wait for the blue light to start blinking.
   

6. Turn on your light bulb and wait for it to connect with the hub.
7. Once the light bulb is connected to the hub you can choose to Name the Light to identify it easier in the app or just Get Started using it.
