  • To be by your range extender or have a computer on hand.

2. Check Network Status

You can check the status of your Linksys RE9000 Range Extender in two ways:

  • On the device
  • On a computer or mobile device with a web browser

The type and amount of network related information that you get depends on which method you use.

On Your Range Extender

  1. Check the indicator light on the front of the range extender:

  1. Off
Off
  1. Range Extender isn't getting power, or is turned off.
  2. Solid Green

  1. Turned on, with good signal strength.
  2. Blinking Green

  1. Booting up or updating firmware.
  2. Blinking Orange
Blinking Orange
  1. Ready for setup or not connected.
  2. Solid Orange
Orange
  1. Signal is weak from your router to the Range Extender. Move the Range Extender closer to the router.

On Your Computer

  1. Launch the web browser that you use to surf the web.

  1. Navigate to one of the following addresses:
  • http://extender.linksys.com

  • If you know the IP address assigned to your range extender you can enter that instead.

  • This is an example IP address and will likely not match the one your range extender has.
  • Enter the password when requested.
  • The default password is "admin".

  • Under Wireless, click on Basic Settings.

  • Your network status will be displayed here.

  • The status will show the range extender's connection to the router.
