How to Check the Connection on a Roku Player or TV

1. Introduction
Your Roku device provides you with access to stream audio and video content from the Internet. For this to work, it must maintain a good connection to your network and the Internet. You can check the quality of this connection at any time on your Roku device. This guide will show you how.
Whether you have a Roku TV, Player or Stick, the steps to check the network connection details are the same:
Press the Home button on the remote.
This will bring up the Home screen.
Scroll up or down and highlight Settings.
Then go right to Network.
Go right again to About.
Here, you should see the network details such as:
Network name
Connection status
Connection type
IP address
MAC address
Download speed
Wireless channel
Signal strength (wireless only)
If you're concerned with the quality of your Roku device's Internet connection you may want to check the following details:
For a wireless (WiFi) connection:
Signal strength – A measure of the strength of the wireless signal from your router.
Internet download speed – A measure of the speed of your internet connection. The date of the connection check is also reported.
For a wired (Ethernet) connection only the Internet download speed will appear.
Excellent or Good results likely mean the connection is functioning without issue. However, a Fair or Poor connection can lead to playback issues or other unpredictable behavior.
