How to Connect an iPhone or iPad to Apple TV

1. Introduction

Want to connect your iOS device to your Apple TV? The following steps are going to show you how we will make sure that your devices are up to date and then walk you through establishing a connection between the two.

Tools You'll Need:

  • An Apple TV 4K or Apple TV (4th generation) with tvOS 11
  • An iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 11 or later or a Mac with macOS High Sierra

  • Zip ties
  • Any other consumable supplies
  • Comment out supplies section if no supplies are necessary

Before You Begin:

  • Your Apple TV must be up to date
  • Your iOS device must be up to date
  • Bluetooth must be enabled on your iOS device

2. Connect to iOS

To complete the following steps, you will need both your iOS device and your Apple TV.

On Your Apple TV

  1. Power on your Apple TV, then push the home button on the remote.

On Your iOS Device

  1. Unlock your iOS device and bring it close to your Apple TV.
  2. When you see a message on your iOS device that says Pair Apple TV, tap Pair.

  1. You will see a code appear on your TV screen.
