How to Connect Wally Home Sensing System to WiFi

1. Introduction

In This Guide

You'll Learn How To:

  • Get your Wally hub connected a wireless network.

Before We Begin:

  • You will need to know your Wi-Fi network name and password.
  • You need to have created a Wally account and logged into the account.

2. Install Check

You following steps will require you to have the Wally app.  Please check to see if it is installed on your device.

3. New or Existing Setup

We need to know if you've already set up your Wally hub in the past, or if this is a new setup.

New setup:

  • You've just purchased a Wally hub and have not yet set it up.

Existing Setup:

  • You have already connected the hub to your network in the past either with an Ethernet cable or via Wi-Fi.
  • If you open the Wally app on your device, you will see your hub listed.

 

4. Initial Setup

  1. Open the Wally app from your home screen.

  1. Tap Continue.

5. Log In to Account

  1. Enter your Wally username and password and then tap on the Log In button.

  1. Tap Notify Me to receive app notifications.
  2. If you do not wish to receive app notifications, you may instead click Not Now.

6. Add Hub

  1. Tap on Add a Hub.

  1. On the first time setup you may be prompted for device permissions for Bluetooth, or Location. Choose the option to allow these changes.

7. Wireless

  1. Tap on the Continue button.

  1. When asked press the Link button on the hub.

  1. Select your Wi-Fi network from the list.
    The Wally hub supports 802.11 b/g/n on 2.4 GHz networks. Some wireless routers broadcast a dual-band wireless signal and provide both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless networks. Your device will not see 5 GHz networks, which is completely normal. Not all devices contain the antenna to communicate on the 5 GHz band. Also, some routers broadcast guest networks that your device may not be able to connect to depending on your router's settings.

  1. Enter your Wi-Fi password and tap Join.

  1. When asked, press the Link button once more.

  1. Your hub is now connected to Wi-Fi.

8. Create Account

  1. Tap on Create an Account.

  1. Enter your email address and choose a password. Next, tap on box next to the "I agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy" text. Finally, tap on Create Account.
  2. For security reasons, you should not use the same password for your Wally account and your email.

  1. You will be asked to verify your account by clicking a link that was sent to your email.

  1. Click on the Activate Wally Account link in the verification email that was sent to you.
  2. If you don't see the email in your inbox, check your junk email folders for the email.

  1. Enter your first and last name along with your cell number and then tap on Add Personal Information.

  1. Enter the requested information about the location where you are setting up your Wally system and then tap Add Property.

  1. Tap on Continue.

  1. Tap Notify Me to receive app notifications.
  2. If you do not wish to receive app notifications, you may instead click Not Now.

9. Disconnect Ethernet Cable

  1. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the hub.

10. Existing Setup

  1. Open the Wally app from your home screen.

  1. Select your hub from the list.
  2. Tap on Hub Setup.
  3. Press the Link button on the hub.

11. Android or iOS

For the next steps, we need to determine what type of mobile device you have.

12. Install Android App

  1. Launch the Play Store on your smartphone.

  1. Type in Wally in the search bar.

13. Install iOS App

  1. Open the App Store.

  1. Type Wally - Home Sensor Network in the search bar.

  1. Search for the Wally - Home Sensor Network app from the list and tap the Get button.

  1. If you have previously downloaded the app in the past, press the cloud icon to download the app. You will not be prompted to tap on the Install button.
