How To Create Multi-Room Music Group with Alexa App

Authored by: Support.com Tech Pro Team

1. Introduction

Intelligent personal assistants are everywhere. Amazon's Alexa is so pervasive that she's become a household name and having multiple Alexa compatible devices throughout our homes is the new normal.

With so many Alexa compatible units in our homes, having whole home entertainment is not only possible but pretty easy to set up. You can connect all of your Amazon Echo or similar devices together and then create what is known as a multi-room music group. This lets us play music across multiple speaker systems.

Tools You'll Need:

  • A paperclip
  • iPhone charging cable
  • Access to a computer with iTunes installed
  • Any other non-consumable tools needed
  • Comment out tools section if no tools are necessary

Before You Begin:

  • You will need at least two devices compatible with the Alexa app.

Multi-Room Streaming Limitations

Multi-Room Music will not work over Bluetooth, so if you have a Bluetooth speaker paired with the Echo, you'll need to connect the two using the 3.5mm jack.
