How to Factory Reset a DJI Phantom 4 Drone

If your DJI drone is not working as intended and you've exhausted all other possible repair steps or you want to give it to someone else, you can reset it to factory defaults.

This guide will help you with that process.

3. Launch App

  1. Launch the DJI Assistant 2 app.

  1. If you don't see your email address in the top right corner, click Login.

4. Connect Drone to Computer

  1. Plug the smaller connector of the provided USB cable into the left side of the drone.

  1. Plug the other connector of the USB cable into the computer.

  1. On the rear of the drone, press and release the power button then press it again quickly and hold it for about two seconds to turn it on.

5. Factory Reset Drone

Depending on which DJI drone you have, the connected device may show a different name. However, the following procedure is the same for all DJI drones.

  1. In the DJI Assistant 2 app, select your drone under Connected Devices.

  1. Below the Firmware List click Restore Factory Defaults.

  1. Click Confirm to start the factory reset process.

  1. Wait for the factory reset process to complete.Do not turn off or disconnect the drone or exit the app during the factory reset.

  1. You will get a confirmation message once the factory reset process was finished. Click Complete.

7. Factory Reset RC

To reset the DJI Phantom 4 remote control you have to press and hold four buttons simultaneously while you're powering up the device. With the remote control turned off do the following:

  1. Press and hold the customizable C1 and C2 buttons on the back with your two middle fingers.

  1. Press and hold the Record button on the left shoulder and the Camera Settings dial on the right shoulder with your two index finders.

  1. Press and release the Power button then press it again quickly and hold it for about two seconds with your left thumb to turn on the remote control.

  1. Keep holding the other buttons for about four more seconds until you see the Status Indicator light turn blue.
