1. Introduction

Naturally, many fitness trackers are exposed to moisture as they are worn throughout the day, especially during workout sessions. While your Fitbit is water resistant, it is not waterproof. If it has been submerged or exposed to an excessive amount of moisture and has stopped working, it will need to be dried.

Tools You'll Need:

2. Drying Your Device

Do not attempt to charge, turn on, or use your device until you are sure the device is completely dry. Attempting to power on a device that is wet could cause unrepairable damage.

  1. Use a dry cloth or paper towel to remove any excess water on the outside of the watch.
  2. Let the tracker air dry for a couple of days.
  3. Once no moisture can be detected, it is time to test the device.
  4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for four seconds. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.

  1. If the Fitbit turns on, you should be good to go. If it doesn't turn on or it has condensation inside the screen, then it may be permanently damaged. Whether or not the damage is covered by warranty depends on which model you have. Contact Fitbit Support if you are unsure.
