How to Fix a Roku Ultra that Won't Power On

1. Introduction

If you are having trouble powering on your Roku Ultra or you're not getting a video signal on your display device, this guide will provide some troubleshooting steps that may resolve these issue.

2. Check Power

  1. Use the included power adapter only. Even using a power adapter provided with another Roku device may cause issues.
  2. Remove and reattach the power adapter making sure it is securely and firmly connected to the Roku device.

  1. Make sure you are using a working power outlet. You can test another electronic device, such as a lamp with the same power outlet. Bypass any power strips for troubleshooting purposes.
  1. Check the white light on the front side of your Roku device. If it's lit, this indicates the device is turned on.

  1. In case the white light is non functional, you can check if your display receives any video signal from the Roku device.

3. Check Power

  1. Make sure the TV is plugged into a working power outlet. Bypass any power strips for troubleshooting purposes.

  1. Press the power button on the unit itself or on the remote to turn it on.

4. TV input channel or source

Use your TV's remote to make sure that your TV input channel or source is set to the correct HDMI port.

5. Check HDMI Cable

  1. Check the HDMI cable ends and device ports and remove any foreign objects.
  2. Check for cable damage. If it is damaged then it should be replaced.
  3. Securely and firmly reconnect the HDMI cable between your devices.
  4. Try plugging the HDMI cable ends into a different port on each device if possible.
  5. Try using a different high-speed HDMI cable. Some cables are higher quality than others, a low-quality cable may impact your sound and video signal.

6. Bypass HDMI Device

If your Roku device is connected to your display through an audio/video receiver (AVR) or sound bar:
