How to Fix Bluetooth Devices Working with Fire TV

Your Fire TV can be paired with different types of Bluetooth devices. Up to seven Bluetooth accessories can be paired with your Fire TV at a time. This guide will take you through steps that can help resolve issues with Bluetooth devices on your Amazon Fire TV.

1 Connect Bluetooth Device

Check proximity before pairing Bluetooth with Fire TV

  • Bluetooth connection range is often limited to 10 meters or 32 feet.
  • A distance less than 12 inches can also cause issues.
  • Physical obstacles, like walls, drastically reduce the Bluetooth signal strength and range.
  • Electronic interference like radio and microwave signals are probable causes for connection issues.

Pair your Bluetooth device to Fire TV

  1. From your Fire TV, scroll over to Settings.

  2. Then select Controllers & Bluetooth Devices.

  3. Select Other Bluetooth Devices.

  5. Your Fire TV will begin searching for nearby Bluetooth-ready devices. Once it appears, select your Bluetooth device from the list to begin the pairing process.

  6. You will receive an on-screen notification once your Bluetooth device has successfully connected to your Fire TV.

It is important to ensure that your Bluetooth device is powered on with an adequate amount of battery life in order to complete the pairing process without interruption.

  • Ensure your Bluetooth device is powered on.
  • Check your Bluetooth device's battery power.
  • Charge the battery if necessary, or replace old or depleted batteries if need be.

Power cycle your Fire TV & Bluetooth device

  1. Power off of the Fire TV by unplugging its power cable.

  2. Power down your Bluetooth device.
  3. Reconnect the power cable to the Fire TV and turn your Bluetooth device back on.
  4. Wait for them to restart.

Re-pair your Bluetooth device with your Fire TV

  1. From your Fire TV, scroll over to Settings.

  3. Select Other Bluetooth Devices.

  4. Select the device that's having the connection issue.

  5. Press the Menu button on your Fire TV remote to unpair it.

  6. Try pairing the Bluetooth device again.

Some Bluetooth devices can be paired to multiple devices at once, but may have limitations on the total number of devices it can be paired with at any given time. You may try performing a factory reset on your Bluetooth device to see if this allows for proper pairing thereafter. Refer to the instructions for your Bluetooth accessory for help with performing this type of reset.

Resetting your device to factory defaults will erase all data, and your Bluetooth device will need to be re-paired with any other devices it was previous paired with. This is something to consider before proceeding with this reset step.
