1. Introduction

The C by GE app is used to regularly update the firmware of your C by GE Smart Switch. If your Switch fails to update, this may mean that there was a problem with your internet connection at the time, or there may actually be an issue with the Switch itself. Unfortunately, in the case your switch refuses to update, this issue can only be resolved by resetting the switch and attempting to update it again.

This guide will take you through the process of resetting your switch. Once complete, the C by GE app can be used to attempt to update the switch again.

Tools You'll Need:

  • A paperclip
  • iPhone charging cable
  • Access to a computer with iTunes installed
  • Any other non-consumable tools needed
  • Comment out tools section if no tools are necessary

2. Reset Your C by GE Smart Switch

Steps to Reset the Switch

  1. Depending on which light switch you are using, you'll be working with the circular On/Off button, the toggle, or the paddle of your switch.

  1. Press and hold your switch's button, toggle, or paddle for 10 seconds.
Wait 10 seconds
  1. If the reset is successful, the indicator light will begin blinking blue meaning the switch is ready to be set up again.
  2. Now that the switch has been reset, it is ready to attempt the update process again.
