How to Fix Fail Update on a C by GE Smart Light
Introduction

1 Restart Your C by GE Smart Light
- Turn off the main power, or unplug the lamp that your smart light is plugged into.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Turn the power back on, or plug the lamp back in.
- Wait one minute for the smart light to reconnect to the network.
- Once restarted, use the C by GE app to attempt to update the light again.
2 Reset Your C by GE Smart Light
If the update still failed to apply successfully, your smart light must be fully reset. In order to reset your smart light, it must be turned on and off multiple times in sequence. The specific number of times this must be done and the number of seconds the smart bulb must be turned on or off for can vary. Thankfully, the C by GE app will provide this information as the factory reset process is performed.
To begin the reset process, have your mobile device with the C by GE app handy, and be near the power switch that controls the problematic smart light.
On the Power Switch
- Turn off the main power to the smart bulb for at least 5 seconds.
On Your Mobile Device
- Launch the C by GE app on your phone or tablet.
- Tap Settings at the bottom.
- Tap Support.
- Tap Factory Reset.
- Then tap C by GE Lights.
- The C by GE app will show you the number of times you have to turn on and off the smart bulb and the amount of seconds you have to keep the smart bulb turned on or off.
On the Power Switch
- Turn the main power to the smart bulb on and off in the sequence indicated in the C by GE app.
- Once you've completed the reset procedure, the smart bulb will flash on and off three times if it has been successfully reset.
- Now that the smart light has been reset, it is ready to attempt the update process again.
If the reset did not complete successfully, repeat this process until the reset is successful.
