1. Game Install Issues

PlayStation 4 allows you to install both applications and games from the store or a disc. Sometimes the install doesn't go as planned, so we’re going to show you how to fix that.

What you need before you start:

  • Internet connection to your console.
  • PlayStation equipment and game disc should be in good working order.
  • PlayStation Network (PSN) account.

2. Check Game Disc

Checking the Game Disc

  1. Eject the disc and make sure it is not dirty, scratched or damaged.
  2. Ensure you are using the correct disc for this console.
  3. Insert another disc to see if it works.
  4. If another disc can be read, the disc you are trying to use may be dirty or faulty.
  5. If no other disc can be read, there may be a hardware issue with the console.

3. Install Game from Disc

  1. Insert the game disc if it hasn't been done already.
  2. The console should automatically read the disc.
  3. Follow the steps to install the game.
  4. Some games require additional content or an update to be downloaded and installed. Follow the prompts, if applicable.

4. Restart - Safe Mode

Safe Mode allows you to start the system with the most basic functions only. The Safe Mode menu options may help you correct issues and allow your PlayStation 4 to start normally.

  1. Connect the DualShock 4 controller with the USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.
  2. Turn off the PlayStation 4. The power indicator will blink for a few moments before turning off.
  3. Once the PlayStation 4 is off, press and hold the power button on the console.
  4. Release the power button only after you've heard two beeps: one when you first press, and another seven seconds later.
