1. Introduction
Occasionally over the life of your remotes and televisions, they stop communicating with each other.
This guide will help you diagnose whether your battery in the remote is dead or there's a more serious issue that needs a repair.
2. Discharge Remote
Open the back panel of your remote.
Remove the batteries.
Press any button on the remote for about 20 seconds.
Release the button and replace the old batteries with new ones.
3. Test IR Emitter
You can use any device with a digital camera and a live display, such as a handheld camera, computer webcam, smartphone or tablet camera, to test the infrared emitter in your remote.
Point your remote towards the camera lens. If you use a smartphone, you can use the selfie (front facing) camera.
Press any button on the remote and look at the live display of the camera.
You should see a flashing purple light as you press and hold the button.
