This guide will help you resolve issues with the Nintendo Network.
2. Verify Server Status
On your computer, smartphone, or tablet, visit https://www.nintendo.com/consumer/network/en_na/network_status.jsp.
Scroll down to Online Service Status. If all services are online it will look like the following picture.
3. Wii U
From the Wii U Menu, select System Settings.
Using the Left Stick, select the Internet icon and press the A Button.
Select Connect to the Internet.
Press the X Button or tap Connections located in the top-right corner.
Select your Internet connection from the list.
Select Connection Test.
When connection test is complete, click OK.
4. Forgot Password
If your credentials are correct and you still cannot log in you should reset your Nintendo Network Password. There are multiple ways to do this.
From Your Wii U:
Select the Mii on the User Select screen.
When prompted for your password, select I Forgot.
Select Send. An e-mail with a temporary password will be sent to the e-mail address associated to your Nintendo Network ID.
If you have not confirmed your e-mail address, you will be prompted to do that before a temporary password can be sent. Select "Resend E-Mail" to resend the verification e-mail, then follow the instructions in the e-mail to confirm. You will then be able to request the temporary password.
Select OK to return to the password entry screen.
Once the e-mail arrives, return to the Wii U and enter the temporary password that you received. Select OK to sign in.
Once you have signed in, access the User Settings to update the password associated to your account.

8. Unlink the Nintendo Network ID
Go to the system's HOME menu.
Tap your Mii icon.
Select SignIn.
Enter the password associated to the Nintendo Network ID, then Confirm.
The error message “You cannot use this Nintendo Network ID on this console” will appear on the screen.
While the error message is onscreen, hold down the X button AND Y button.
Tap OK.
Select Yes to unlink the Nintendo Network ID from the system.
You will receive a message that the NNID link has been removed. Tap OK to return to the system settings.
You can now re-link the Nintendo Network ID to the system, which should resolve the issue.
9. Link Nintendo Network ID
Go to the system's HOME menu.
Tap your Mii icon.
Select Link an Existing ID.
Read through the information regarding Nintendo eShop, Country settings, account deletion, linking, and Parental Controls. Select Understood to proceed.
Enter the Nintendo Network ID, password, and email address for the account that you want to link. Click Done.
Select Link.
If the Nintendo Network ID was originally created on the Wii U, select the Mii character to associate with the account. Select OK.
Select Next to link the Nintendo Network ID to the system.
Select OK to complete the process.

Try again later when services are online.

From the Wii U Menu, select System Settings.
Using the Left Stick, select the Internet icon and press the A Button.
Select Connect to the Internet.
Press the X Button or tap Connections located in the top-right corner.
Select your Internet connection from the list.
Select Connection Test.
When connection test is complete, click OK.
14. Delete Console Data
From the Wii U Menu, select System Settings.
Using the Left Stick, scroll to the Data Management and press the A Button.
Select Copy / Move / Delete Data.
Select the location of the data you wish to delete.
Select the application that has the data you wish to delete and press the A Button.
Select what you wish to delete from within the application data and press the A Button. If you wish to delete multiple items, press the Y Button to select multiple items, select the items you wish to delete, and then press the X Button. Items selected for deletion will be marked with a white checkmark on a red background.
Once an individual application item is chosen, select Delete and press the A Button.
15. Software Install/Update
Install Program from eStore:
Open the Nintendo eShop.
Select a category.
Select a game/program.
If you're purchasing a game, click through the purchase options and then click Download.
The Wii U will check for updates automatically and install them the background. In the event that software is started and an available update has not been installed, the Wii U will begin downloading that update prior to the software starting.
