How to Fix Issues with the JBL Connect App

1. Introduction

With the JBL Connect app, you can pair multiple speakers together as well as update your speaker software.

This guild will walk you though some troubleshooting steps in the case the app fails to launch or crashes.

2. Verify Paired Device is Connected

  1. Swipe down from the top edge of your Android device's screen to see the Notification shade.

  1. Swipe down a second time for the full Quick Settings shade. Select the Settings icon near the top right.

  1. Tap on Connected Devices.

  1. Your Bluetooth device should show up under Paired devices and say connected. If you see it in the list but it does not say connected, make sure your Bluetooth device is powered on and Bluetooth is enabled.

  1. If you devices does not show up in the list, tap on Pair new device.

  1. Place your Bluetooth in pairing mode and tap on the device once it shows up in the list.

  1. If prompted for a PIN enter that in from the Bluetooth device's user manual.

3. Close Running Applications

  1. Tap Recent Apps at the bottom of the screen.

  1. The Recent Apps button may be located on either the bottom left or bottom right as either an onscreen button or a physical button. If you're unsure which button it is, please refer to the user manual of your android device.
  2. Either tap the X or swipe to the side to close an app.

4. Restart

  1. Hold down the power button on your Android device.
    Depending on the manufacturer and model of Android device you have, the location of the power button will vary.
  2. A prompt will appear on-screen. Select Restart.

If the menu does not pop up, continue to hold the power button, and your Android device will shut off.

  • If you had to shut down your Android device, wait 30 seconds before turning your device back on.

5. Clear Application Data

  1. Swipe down from the top edge of your Android device's screen to see the Notification shade.

  1. Swipe down a second time for the full Quick Settings shade. Select the Settings icon near the top right.

  1. Select the application you are having trouble with.
  2. Tap Stop or Force Stop if available.
  3. Tap Clear Data.

6. Uninstall Android App

  1. On your Android device, tap on the Apps icon on the main screen.

  1. Look for the JBL Connect icon.

  1. Tap and hold the apps icon until you see the Uninstall option show up at the top side of the screen.

  1. Drag the icon over the Uninstall option until the icon turns red and release it.
  2. You will be asked whether you want to uninstall the app. Tap on OK to confirm.

7. Install Android App

  1. Open Play Store.

  1. Once installed, tap Open to proceed to the setup.

9. Verify Paired Device is Connected

  1. Open the Settings app from the home screen.

  1. Your device should show under My Devices and say connected. If you see it in the list but it does not say connected, make sure your Bluetooth device is powered on and Bluetooth is enabled.

  1. If the device is not listed under My Devices, then place your Bluetooth device in pairing mode and tap on the device listed under Devices.

10. Close Running Applications

The way to show all running apps on an iOS device varies with the model you have:

  • Older iOS devices, up to the iPhone X, still come equipped with a circular home button beneath the screen.
  • Newer iOS devices, beginning with the iPhone X, no longer come equipped with the circular home button beneath the screen.

On iOS Devices with a Home Button

  1. Double-press the Home button quickly.

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause slightly in the middle of the screen.

  1. You will now see a list of apps that are currently open. Swipe up on any of the apps to close them.

11. Restart

Powering off an iPhone.
  1. Hold down the lock/power button.
  2. Slide to power off when prompted.
  3. Wait until the phone is off.
  4. Hold down the lock/power button until you see the Apple logo.

12. Uninstall iOS App

  1. On the main screen of your iOS device, look for the JBL Connect icon.

  1. Tap on hold the icon until an X shows up on its top left corner. Tap on the X.

  1. You will be asked whether you want to delete the app. Tap on Delete to confirm.

13. Install iOS App

  1. Open the App Store.

  2. Find JBL Connect in the search results and tap on GET.
