How to Fix Issues with the Onkyo Remote App

1. Introduction

This guide will help you repair issues with the companion app for your Onkyo TX-NR575.

2. Power Cycle Network and Devices

  1. Unplug the power to all of your Onkyo devices.

  1. Power off your mobile device (Android or IOS).

3. Verify Connected Network

Your mobile device and your receiver must be on the same Wi-Fi network in order to communicate with one another. The following steps will help you ensure that your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network your receiver is. If your receiver is using Ethernet, be sure the Wi-Fi network you are connecting to is the one being broadcast from the router your receiver is physically connected to.

Make sure your devices are not connected to a guest network. These types of networks typically prevent your devices from communicating with one another.

Check your Android device

  1. Swipe down on phone to access quick settings.

  1. Swipe down on phone again to get the extended view. Your connected network will show under the Wi-Fi symbol.

4. Reinstall

The next steps will take you through reinstalling the Onkyo Remote app. First, we'll uninstall the app and then follow up by reinstalling it.

5. Uninstall Android App

Method 1:

  1. From the home screen, press the menu button.
  2. Locate the Onkyo Remote app.

  1. Press and hold your finger on the app that you wish to uninstall.
  2. Drag it to the icon on the top of your screen where it says "Uninstall".

  1. Tap on OK to confirm your action.

Method 2:

  1. From the home screen, press the menu button.
  2. Choose Settings.

  1. Find the Onkyo Remote app, then tap on it.

6. Install Android App

  1. Launch the Play Store.

  1. Search for Onkyo Remote using the search box located at the top.
  2. Touch the magnifying glass on the on-screen keyboard to search.

  1. On the app's install page, touch INSTALL.

  1. Review the install prompt that pops up. Once done, touch ACCEPT.
  2. Wait for the download to finish. Once done, touch OPEN to launch Onkyo Remote or go back to your apps to access the new app's icon.

7. Setup App

  1. Open the Onkyo Remote app.

  1. The first time you open the app, a small box will appear labeled Device Select. Since we've already prepared our mobile device and Onkyo receiver, the app should display any compatible Onkyo devices that can be paired with the app. Tap on your Onkyo receiver's model number in this box to continue.

  1. After the app successfully connects to your receiver, you will be presented with the main screen of the app. You can now use the app to control your Onkyo receiver.

  1. Tap on the Settings icon from your home screen.

10. Reinstall

The next steps will take you through reinstalling the Onkyo Remote app. First, we'll uninstall the app and then follow up by reinstalling it.

11. Uninstall iOS App

  1. From your main screen, locate the Onkyo Remote app.

  1. Lightly touch and hold the app until it jiggles or vibrates.
  2. Tap X in the upper-left corner of the app.
  3. Tap Delete.

12. Install iOS App

  1. From the main screen, open the App Store.

  2. Tap Search to start the search.

  2. Tap the Onkyo Remote App to see its download options.

  1. Tap OPEN once the app is installed.

13. Setup App

  1. Open the Onkyo Remote app.

  1. The first time you open the app, a small box will appear labeled Device Select.
