How to Fix No Video Signal on a TCL Smart TV

1. Introduction

The TCL Roku TV is a smart TV with a simple, intuitive interface and built-in ability to watch live TV with an antenna, access connected devices like a cable set-top box or game console, and stream content over the internet through different streaming channels (more popularly referred to as apps) that can be added via the Roku Channel Store.

If you're having issues while watching TV, this guide will provide some solutions that may help.

2. Check Status Light

  1. The status light indicator is located below the TCL brand on the front of the TV and behaves the following way:
  2. If the TV is off or in stand-by mode the light should be solid white.
  3. If the TV is on it should be either off or blinking.
  4. Point the remote towards the TV and press any button.
  5. If the light blinks every time your press the remote button, then the remote and TV are communicating.
  6. If the light doesn't blink, then you may need to check the power to the TV or troubleshoot the remote.

3. Check Power

  1. Make sure the TV is plugged into a working power outlet. Bypass any power strips for troubleshooting purposes.

  1. Press the power button on the unit itself or on the remote to turn it on.

4. Check Coaxial Cable

  1. Make sure that the coaxial cable is firmly attached at the back of the TV and that there are no broken wires.

  1. If the TV is connected to a cable or satellite box, ensure that the box is turned on and the cables are firmly connected from the box to the TV, and to the wall or outside source. Try changing the cables, if necessary.

5. Restart

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku TV remote.
  2. Scroll up or down and select Settings.

  2. Press the right arrow button and select System Restart.

6. Restart Device

To restart your device via power cycle:

  1. If your device has buttons or a remote control, press the power button to turn it off.

  1. Unplug it from the power outlet and wait for 10 seconds.

  1. Plug it back into the power outlet, then turn it back on from the power button if it has on.

7. Factory Reset

A factory reset returns the TV to its original, "out of the box" state. Performing a factory reset will remove all stored personal data relating to your settings, network connections, Roku data, and menu preferences. Once completed, you must repeat the guided setup, reconnect to the Internet, linking your Roku account, and reloading streaming channels. If applicable, you must also repeat the antenna TV setup (channel scan) and input configuration.

To factory reset your Roku device:

  1. Select the Home button on your remote to open the main screen.

  1. Press the right arrow button, scroll and select Factory reset everything.

  1. In order to proceed with the full factory reset, enter the code listed on the screen and select OK. A different code is generated each time a factory reset is initiated.
