How to Fix Video Issues on a PlayStation 4

1. Introduction

Though the PlayStation 4 is a powerful system it can still run into issues.

2. Check HDMI Cable

  1. Check the HDMI cable ends and device ports and remove any foreign objects.
  2. Check for cable damage. If it is damaged then it should be replaced.
  3. Securely and firmly reconnect the HDMI cable between your devices.
  4. Try plugging the HDMI cable ends into a different port on each device if possible.
  5. Try using a different high-speed HDMI cable. Some cables are higher quality than others, a low-quality cable may impact your sound and video signal.

3. Restart

Turn off your PlayStation 4 and turn it back on after a few seconds to restart it.

  1. Press and hold the power button on the console for at least 7 seconds. The system will beep twice and then turn off.

4. Check TV input

Checking the TV inputs may also help to fix the issue.

  1. Confirm that both your TV and the device are turned on.
  2. Check that your TV is set to the correct input signal (HDMI).
  3. Check that the HDMI cable connection to your device is secure.

  5. Check that the HDMI cable is connected to the "out to TV" port on the device.

By default, this is set automatically to match the connected TV. Here are the steps on how to configure the settings for your PlayStation 4:

  1. Resolution: Set the screen resolution.
  2. TV Size: You can set the screen size to match the 3D-compatible TV in use.This appears only when you connect a 3D-compatible TV.
  3. RGB Range: Change this only when you use an HDMI device that does not send RGB range information correctly.
  4. HDR: You’ll experience greater dynamic range with an HDR (high dynamic range) TV and compatible applications.
  5. Deep Color Output: Change this setting only if video is not displayed properly.
  6. Video Output Information: View information such as resolution and color format.
