Your favorite apps can be downloaded and installed on the Xbox One. There are times when your apps may not launch or new apps will not download. This guide will cover some ways to resolve those issues.
This guide will address the following issues:
Cannot launch an app
Cannot install an app
Slow downloading
2. Restart
Method 1: Reboot with the controller:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Restart console.
Select Yes to confirm.
If this doesn't work then go to method 2.
Method 2: Reboot from the console:
Hold the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds.
The console will turn off.
Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or on your controller.
If this doesn't work then go to method 3.
Method 3: Hard reboot:
Hold the Xbox buttonon the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds.
The console will turn off.
Unplug the console's power cable.
Wait 10 seconds.
Plug the power cable back in.
Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or on your controller.
3. Manual Update
To install Xbox One updates immediately:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Settings.
Select System.
Select Updates.
Select Console update available.
4. Reinstall an App (Info)
The next steps will guide you on reinstalling an Xbox One App.
Purchased Apps can be re-downloaded using the same Xbox Live account without having to buy them again.
5. Uninstall an App
From the Home screen, open My games & apps.
Highlight the app you wish to uninstall.
Once highlighted, push Menu on the controller.
Select Uninstall.
Confirm the uninstallation to proceed.
6. Install an App
From the Home screen, go to the Store by scrolling to the right by pressing the RB button on the controller.
Next, select Apps.
Here you will see Featured, Popular, and Newly-released apps.
Clicking on the ellipsis (...) will show more apps from the category above.
You can also select the Search Apps function if you are looking for a specific app.
Choose the App and download it. Once an app is downloaded, it will install and be available.

8. Xbox One Apps Download Fail
A download may fail for various reasons. This guide will walk you through several possible causes such as checking to see if you have enough free storage, if the Xbox network is online, and so on. You can try downloading again every time you finish a step.
Under Services, make sure Xbox Live Core Services and Purchase and Content Usage show as Normal.
If you are having problem with a particular game or app, look under the Games and Apps section of the page, to be sure those parts of Xbox Live are not having problems.
10. Sign-in Xbox Live
Sign into an existing account:
On your Xbox controller, press the Xbox Guide button.
From the Home screen, scroll left to select your gamertag. Select Sign in.
If you don't see the account you want to sign into, add it:
On your Xbox controller, press the Xbox Guide button.
Select Add & manage.
Select Add New.
Sign in using your Microsoft Account's email address.
Enter your password.
You will be shown the privacy statement summary. Once you are done reviewing it, select Next.
If this console isn't yours, it is recommended to select Lock it down to require a password to sign in. This will protect your account for unauthorized access
Follow the on-screen prompts until you finish.
On your controller, press the Xbox button and then select Home.
From the Home screen, scroll left to select your gamertag. Select Sign in.

To install Xbox One updates immediately:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Settings.
Select System.
Select Updates.
Select Console update available.
12. Check Free Storage Space
To make sure there is enough hard drive space:
Push the Xbox guide button on your controller.
From the guide, select My games & apps.
Look in the bottom left corner for how much storage you have available.
13. Free Up Storage Space
Push the Xbox guide button on your controller.
From the guide, select My games & apps.
Select Games or Apps on the left.
Select the Game or App you'd like to manage from the list on the right.
Select Uninstall.
Follow the prompts to confirm you'd like to remove that game or app.
Repeat this process to remove other Games and Apps you do not want, to free up more space.

Try again later when the services are back up.
16. Check Download Speed
If you feel your download speeds are slow, or that you aren't getting the speeds you pay for on a monthly basis from your ISP, there are a number of factors that could have an impact on this. When possible, you should test your connection using an Ethernet cable instead of a Wi-Fi connection. If your speeds are still slow, you could have an issue with your ISP, or the Xbox Live service could be having issues.
When in doubt, always contact your ISP directly to ensure that your internet service is not the source of your issue.
To check current download speeds:
Open My games & apps.
Check the Queue section.
The Game or App that is actively being installed will have a download speed indicator.
Download speeds are typically measured in Megabytes per second (MB/s).
The table below displays a rough estimate of download completion times based on the size of the file being downloaded and the speed of your connection. Faster download speeds will download data more quickly. Contact your ISP directly to determine what speeds your internet service provides to your home.
