How to Install OBS Streaming Software in Windows

Introduction

OBS, or Open Broadcaster Software, is a free, open source software package that allows you to record or stream what's displayed on your computer screen, as well as other sources. You can stream to services such as YouTube or Twitch, and record in a variety of different formats to either edit later or publish to video sharing websites.

1 Install OBS Studio for Windows

  1. Open your preferred browser, and visit the OBS Studio homepage.

  2. Select Windows from the home page.

  3. Open the downloaded file once it has completed.

  4. Windows will ask permission to run the installer. Select Yes.

  5. OBS Studio installer will display a welcome screen. Select Next.

  6. The Licence Agreement is displayed. Carefully read the Agreement, once you understand and agree, select I Agree.

  7. You'll be asked where you want to install OBS. The default location is acceptable, select Next.

  8. You'll be asked if you wish to install any extra components. In most cases, it's safe to leave this blank. Select Install.

  9. Installation is complete. For now, uncheck Launch OBS Studio, then select Finish.

  10. A new icon should appear on your Desktop for OBS Studio so you can launch the program later easily.
