How to Install or Reinstall OneNote App

1. Introduction

OneNote is one's very own digital notebook

OneNote is a great tool for capturing pretty much anything. It's the perfect way to keep track of your ideas, things to remember and to do lists

With OneNote, one can:

• Using your laptop or tablet, take notes or record audio
• Sketch or write ideas on your tablet or phone
• Find notes instantly
• Organize those notes into sections
• Switch between devices and pick up right where you left off
• Share your notebooks with others so that everyone can contribute

2. Link to Install or Reinstall Onenote

If they need to install or reinstall the OneNote desktop app on Windows (formerly called “OneNote 2016”), do the following:

1. Copy and paste the link on the customer's PC "Download OneNote"
2. When finished downloading, double-click the downloaded file to begin Setup
3. The installer will automatically detect if they’re currently running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 and it will match their OneNote installation to the correct version

If they use Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 at their work or school and their software is controlled by an IT administrator, they may need to ask them to make OneNote available to them 

After they’ve finished installing OneNote for the customer, it should be automatically associated (or re-associated) with their currently activated Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 license

If they installed OneNote before they install and activate Microsoft 365 or Office 2019, then the end-user license that appears in OneNote will display as “Home and Student.” As soon as they’ve activated their edition of Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 and then restart OneNote, their license will be applied to OneNote, even though the default license for it may still be displayed as “Home and Student.” As long as their edition of Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 is properly activated, OneNote will have all of the capabilities that require a license
