1. Introduction

This guide will walk you through installing the Vizio SmartCast app to control your Vizio SB4531-D5 soundbar.

2. Install Android App

Install Process

1. Launch the Play Store on your smartphone.
   

1. Select the search bar at the top.
   

1. Type in "Vizio SmartCast", then select VIZIO SmartCast from the list.
   

1. Select Install.
   

1. Select Open to open the app.
   

3. Initial App Setup

Getting started with the Vizio SmartCast app is simple. Upon opening the app, you are able to create or log into an existing account, or skip this altogether by choosing to proceed as a guest user. We do recommend that you create or log into an account so your settings and preferences will be remembered by your device.

To Create an Account:

1. Select Create an Account.
   

1. Enter your first and last name, then select Next at the bottom.
   

1. Enter your e-mail address, then select Next.
   

1. Create a new password, and enter it twice. Place a check for the Vizio Terms of Use. Then, select Next.
   

To Proceed as a Guest:

While choosing to proceed as a guest user will not save any of your settings or preferences, it will still allow you to access, control, and stream to your Vizio device(s).

1. Select Continue as a Guest, at the bottom.
   

4. Audio Device Setup

1. Select the Menu in the top left corner.
   

1. Scroll down in the menu, and select Setup a new Device.
   

1. The App may request extra permissions for location at this point. If it does, select Allow.
   

1. If you wish, you can watch a short video detailing the next steps. When you are ready, select Get Started.
   

1. Select your language, then select Next. English is at the top.
   

1. Your mobile device will first attempt to locate your Vizio device via Bluetooth. Hold your mobile device near your Vizio device for the best chance of success.
   

1. If your mobile device is able to find your Vizio device, pairing will take place automatically. If the app cannot locate it, select Skip at the bottom.
   

1. The app will now attempt to locate your Vizio device using Wi-Fi instead.
   

1. Once found, enter a name for your Vizio device, then select Next.
   

1. You may be asked a few more questions to complete the setup of your Vizio device. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the setup process.

5. Install iOS App

1. Open the App Store.
   

1. Select Search in the bottom right corner.
   

1. Type in "Vizio SmartCast", and select Vizio SmartCast from the list.
   

1. Select Get for Vizio SmartCast.
   

1. Select Open.
