Chromecast devices, whether they are the standalone dongles or TVs/speakers with built-in Chromecast allow you to play or stream music and audio. Here's how to listen to music using Chromecast-enabled apps.
2. Stream Audio from Computer
Connect the computer and Chromecast device to the same Wi-Fi network.
Open the Chrome browser.
Open the Chrome menu
and select Cast.
Under Cast to select the Chromecast device you want to stream to.
Go to a audio/music streaming website.
Pick a song, album or playlist and start playing.
To stop streaming open the Chrome menu
and select Cast then click on Stop Casting. Alternatively you can also click on the Cast button
and select Stop Casting.
3. Stream Audio from Mobile Device
Connect the mobile device (Android or iOS) and Chromecast device to the same Wi-Fi network.
Open your Chromecast-enabled app. List of common apps:
YouTube Music
Spotify
Pandora
Google Play Music
TuneIn Radio
Tidal
Tap the Cast
button. The positioning depends on the app.
Select the Chromecast device from the device list.
Pick a song, album or playlist and start playing.
To stop streaming tap on the Cast
button again then select Disconnect.
4. Stream Audio from Google Home
To control music playback from Google Home to any Chromecast device you simply have to give it a voice command like this: "Hey Google, play <song / artist / album / genre> using <audio service> on <Chromecast device>".
For example:
"Hey Google, play music on Chromecast".
"Hey Google, play classical music using Spotify on Living Room Speakers".
"Hey Google, stop Chromecast".
"Hey Google, pause on Kitchen Speakers".
"Hey Google, resume on Bedroom Speakers".
