How to Set Auto Heat or Cool on an ecobee Thermostat

2. Enable Auto Mode

To be able to set your ecobee Smart Thermostat to Auto mode, you need to enable the feature first.

To Enable Auto Mode

  1. Press Menu on the main screen.

  1. Go to Settings.

  1. Then go to Installation Settings.

  1. Select Thresholds.

  1. Select Auto Heat/Cool.
  2. And choose Enable.

3. Set Auto Mode

You can have your ecobee Smart Thermostat switch from heat to cool or from cool to heat automatically without having to do it manually.

To Set Thermostat to Auto Mode

  1. Press Menu on the main screen.

  1. Go to System.

  1. Then select HVAC.

  1. Set the HVAC to Auto.

  1. Back on the main screen, configure the set points with the sliders:
  2. Cool set point (blue) - the temperature to which the home should be cooled down to when the temperature rises,
  3. Heat set point (orange) - the temperature to which the home should be heated up to when the temperature falls.
