Authored by: Support.com Tech Pro Team

1. Introduction

This guide will teach you how to set up your JBL Link 10 speaker, how to get started with the built-in Google Assistant feature at home, and how to have it ready to pair with your favorite Bluetooth devices so it can become a wireless speaker when you're away from home.

Tools You'll Need:

  • A micro USB cable (included) is needed to charge your speaker
  • A USB wall charger (not included) or a device with a powered USB port to charge the speaker

Before You Begin:

  • You must have your smartphone or tablet on hand to set up Google Assistant

You must have the Google Home app installed

2. Charge

First, make sure your speaker is adequately charged before powering on.

  1. Lift the rubber flap to expose the charging port of your speaker.
  2. Connect the micro USB cable into the charging port of your speaker. The other end must be connected to a USB charging block or a powered USB port to charge the speaker.

  1. Depending on the method being used to charge your speaker, charging times will vary. Charging your speaker to full takes approximately 4 hours.
  2. Always remember to firmly replace the rubber flap on your Link 10 when the charging port is not in use. This flap is part of what allows your Link 10 to achieve its IPX7 water resistance rating.

The five lights above the power button on the rear of the speaker indicate how much battery life remains on your speaker.

3. Link with Google Assistant

While you're at home, the built-in Google Assistant of your Link 10 can become your voice assistant. It offers voice commands, voice searching, and voice activated device control, letting you complete a number of tasks after you've spoken the "OK Google" or "Hey, Google" wake words.

Setting up the Google Assistant is not required. You can still use your JBL Link 10 as a wireless speaker if it is simply paired with another Bluetooth device.

The Google Assistant connects to your home WiFi network in order to function. Because of this, if your speaker is removed from your home, the Google Assistant will stop working until the speaker is either returned home, or connected to a different WiFi network using the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet.

  1. Turn on the power to your speaker by pressing the power button on the side of the speaker. The 5 LED lights above the power button will light up when the device is turned on.
