How to Set Up a LeapFrog Epic

1. Introduction

The LeapFrog Epic is an Android-based tablet designed entirely for kids that provides a safe, out-of-the-box web experience that expands when they're ready to explore more. This guide will take you through basic setup steps to get your LeapFrog Epic ready to use.

2. Unbox & Charge

1. Unpack your LeapFrog Epic. You will find the following items in the box:
2. LeapFrog Epic tablet with attached stylus and removable bump case.
3. Micro USB A/C charger.
4. Additional Micro USB cable for computer connectivity.
5. LeapFrog Epic printed documentation.
   

1. Plug in your LeapFrog Epic using the supplied Micro USB charger to charge the battery.
   

1. Connect the other end of the charger cable to an available power outlet.
   

3. Power On & Initial Setup

1. To get started with your LeapFrog Epic, press and hold the power button until the screen turns on. You will see a startup animation.
   

1. After the startup animation plays, you will be presented with the Welcome screen. Tap Next to begin this process.
   

1. Choose your country from the list provided. Tap Next to continue.
2. Next, your LeapFrog Epic will allow you to connect to your Wi-Fi network. Select your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks by tapping on it. You can skip this step by selecting Do this later at the bottom of the screen.
   

1. After tapping on your Wi-Fi network, if it requires a password, you will be prompted to enter it here. Enter your password and tap Next to continue.
2. On the Set Date & Time screen, ensure Automatic date & time is checked. Select Next to continue.
   

1. Next, your LeapFrog Epic will check for available system updates. If any are available, they will be applied at this time. Once completed, tap Next to proceed.
   

1. Accept the license agreement by tapping I Agree.
   

1. At this time, you must either log into an existing LeapFrog account, or select Create a LeapFrog Account if you do not have one.
   

1. You will now be presented with a selection of different available apps to load onto your LeapFrog Epic. Tap More Info on an app you wish to learn more about.
   

1. Tap the Select button on the app's information screen to choose to download and install it.
   

1. If you are done selecting apps to install, tap Yes. If there are more apps you wish to add, tap No to be brought back to the list of apps.
   

1. Once all apps have been selected, downloaded and installed, registration will be complete. Tap Next to complete the registration process.
   

4. Create Child Profile

1. Tap the Parent Child icon.
   

1. You will be prompted to enter your four digit Parent Lock code.
2. After entering your four digit code, you will be brought to the Parent Settings menu. Tap on Child Controls.
   

1. Tap on Add another child.
   

You may create a maximum of three player profiles on the LeapFrog Epic tablet.
