1 Introduction
Before You Begin:
Make sure to fully charge your Amazon Fire tablet's battery before using it for the first time.

2 First Time Setup
Depending on which generation of Fire Tablet (Kindle Fire) you have, the setup process and options might look slightly different on your screen. Below are the steps for the 4th generation tablets and onward.
- Press and hold the power button on the top edge of the tablet to turn it on.
- Choose your preferred language and location, font size and tap Continue.
- Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the Wi-Fi password if needed to connect your tablet to the internet.
- The tablet will download and install any necessary updates.
- Register your tablet in one of two ways:
- Log in with an existing Amazon account ‒ enter your email or mobile number and your account password, then tap Continue,
- Create a new Amazon account ‒ tap Start here under the "New to Amazon?" heading and fill out the required information, then tap Continue.
- If you logged in with an existing account and you have and you previously backed up your data of another Amazon Fire tablet, then you can:
- Tap Restore to load all your apps and settings from your backup,
- Tap Do Not Restore to start fresh with this tablet.
- Read through the options you can to turn on or off, check the ones you want to use and uncheck the ones you don't want to use, then tap Continue.
- Choose the people who will use this tablet. You can also set up child accounts with customized settings for a safer experience. Tap Continue when done.
- Tap Connect next to any social network you would like to use on the tablet, login with the respective account then tap Continue.
- Depending on what services you are subscribed to within your Amazon account, you may get offers that you can sign up for at this time. You can also choose to proceed without signing up for them.
- You may also get a list of apps you can choose from to download and install at this time.
- The setup will complete at this point and you will be welcomed to the tutorial that will teach you how to use your tablet.
