Wireless remote sensors should be placed in the rooms of your home where you spend the most time; rooms where comfort is the most important to you. For example, if you have a small child, or a home-office that gets particularly hot or cold, place your wireless remote sensors in those rooms to prioritize comfort there.
This will make sure your ecobee smart thermostat is well-aware of the temperatures within those rooms and can make adjustments accordingly.
ecobee wireless remote sensors use the 915MHz frequency band to communicate with ecobee thermostats. Simply put, they do not require wi-fi to work with one another. To ensure security and privacy, the communication between your sensor and thermostat is encrypted.
