How to Set Up an IKEA Tradfri Remote Control

This guide will show you how to set up an IKEA Tradfri remote control right out of the box and link it to an IKEA smart light.You can link a variety of IKEA smart lighting products to the Tradfri remote control. This guide only focuses on how to link bulbs.

2. Set Up IKEA Tradfri Remote Control

1. Use a screwdriver or a similar tool to remove the battery cover of the remote control.
   

1. Insert the provided battery with the positive side outward.
   

1. Install the light bulb and power it on.
2. Place the remote control within an inch of the bulb then press and hold the Link button next to the battery for at least 10 seconds until the bulb stops pulsing.
   

1. You can add up to ten IKEA smart lighting products to the Tradfri remote control. Make sure you power off any products in the vicinity that you've already added to the remote control to avoid removing them while you add new ones.
2. Snap the battery cover back into place.
