How to Set Up an IKEA Tradfri Wireless Dimmer
Introduction
You can link a variety of IKEA smart lighting products to the Tradfri wireless dimmer. This guide only focuses on how to link bulbs.
What You'll Need:
- A small Philips screw driver.
1 Set Up IKEA Tradfri Wireless Dimmer
There are two types of IKEA Tradfri wireless dimmers:
Select the type of dimmer that you want to set up:
Wireless Dimmer (Old)
- Press the wireless dimmer against the palm of your hand and turn the cover counter clockwise then lift it to remove it.
- Use a screwdriver or a similar tool to detach the dimmer body from the base.
- Flip the dimmer body on the other side and insert the provided battery with the positive side outward.
- Install the light bulb and power it on.
- Place the wireless dimmer within an inch of the bulb then press and hold the Link button on the front for at least 10 seconds until the bulb stops pulsing.
You can add up to ten IKEA smart lighting products to the Tradfri wireless dimmer. Make sure you power off any products in the vicinity that you've already added to the wireless dimmer to avoid removing them while you add new ones.
- Replace the cover and turn it clockwise to secure it.
Wireless Dimmer (New)
- Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the screw from the back of the wireless dimmer.
- Remove the battery cover.
- Insert the provided battery with the positive side outward.
- Install the light bulb and power it on.
- Place the wireless dimmer within an inch of the bulb then press and hold the Link button next to the battery for at least 10 seconds until the bulb stops pulsing.
You can add up to ten IKEA smart lighting products to the Tradfri On/Off switch. Make sure you power off any products in the vicinity that you've already added to the On/Off switch to avoid removing them while you add new ones.
- Replace the cover and secure it with the screw.
