How to Update Your GoPro Camera

1. Introduction: GoPro: Update Camera

To get new features and optimal performance, be sure to keep your GoPro products up to date with the latest software. This guide will go over common methods in which you can update your GoPro camera.

2. GoPro: Update With GoPro App

  1. Ensure that your mobile device has access to the internet.
  2. Ensure you enable the camera's Wi-Fi and connect it to your wireless network.
    You will also need to enable Bluetooth for HERO4, HERO3+, HERO+ family, and HERO Session / HERO4 Session cameras.
  3. Start the GoPro App. If you do not have it installed, download and install it from your device's appropriate app store or marketplace.

  1. Select Connect Your Camera.

  1. If you only have one camera available, it should appear on your screen. If multiple are available, select the appropriate camera and tap the camera button.

  1. If there is an update available, the GoPro App should prompt you to update your camera. Select Install.

  1. The app will begin downloading the update software necessary to perform the update.

  1. Select Accept & Continue on the firmware license agreement.

  1. Update files will then be transferred to your camera.

  1. The installation process will then begin.

  1. During the update process, your GoPro's screen will turn off and on several times. This is normal.
  2. Once the update is completed, you will be sent to an "All set" screen. Select OK.

4. GoPro: Update With Quik for Desktop

  1. Download and install GoPro Quik for your PC or Mac from GoPro.com.

  1. Ensure that your camera is fully charged.
  2. Launch Quik for Desktop on your computer and sign into your GoPro account (options to create an account will be available if you do not have one).

  1. Connect your camera to your computer using the provided USB charging cable.
  2. Quik for Desktop will prompt you that a camera update is available; follow the on-screen prompts to perform the update.

5. GoPro: Update Manually

  1. Go to the GoPro website from your PC or Mac computer.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Download Update under the header "Camera Software Updates."

  1. Select the GoPro product you are looking to update.

  2. Click Next Step.
