5. Retrieve Wi-Fi Credentials

Make sure your device is connected to your Range Extender via its Wi-Fi network, or physically using an ethernet cable before continuing.

1. Open your preferred web browser.
   

1. In the address bar at the top, enter extender.linksys.com and press Enter or Return.
   

1. Enter the password you set for your range extender, and select Login.
   

1. Select Basic Settings on the left.
   

1. On the right, scroll down to show the 2.4 Ghz + 5 GHz Extended Wireless Settings. You will see the Network Name and Password listed.
   

6. Connect to Network (Android)

Depending on your exact device (Smartphone or Tablet), and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be similar across all Android devices and generations.

7. Connect to Network (iOS)

8. Connect to Network (Windows 10)

9. Connect to Network (macOS)

macOS may show slightly different options, but the steps should be similar across all versions and themes on macOS.

1. Select Wi-Fi from the menu bar, then select the extended network you just setup.

10. Status Light

11. Check Network Status

You can check the status of your Linksys RE6350 Range Extender in two ways:

• On the device
• On a computer or mobile device with a web browser

The type and amount of network related information that you get depends on which method you use.

On Your Range Extender

1. Check the indicator light on the front of the range extender:

1. Range Extender isn't getting power.
2. Solid Green

1. Turned on, with good signal strength.
2. Blinking Green

1. Booting up or updating firmware.
2. Blinking Orange

1. Ready for setup or not connected.
2. Solid Orange

1. Signal is weak from your router to the Range Extender. Move the Range Extender closer to the router.

On Your Computer

1. Open your preferred web browser.

1. Enter the password you set for your range extender, and select Login.

1. Your network status will be displayed here.
   

1. The status will show the range extender's connection to the router.

12. Location

Finding the most optimal location for your Range Extender in your home is important for both maximizing your signal range and wireless coverage. Your Range Extender has a spot finder during the setup process to help you locate the best location for your device.

You can move your Range Extender from outlet to outlet using the spot finder as a guide for selecting locations that will provide the best wireless performance in your home.

You can also look at the light on the front of the range extender to get a quick at-a-glance idea if it is currently positioned well:

Solid Green

Turned on, with good signal strength.

Solid Orange

Signal is weak from your router to the Range Extender. Move the Range Extender closer to the router.

In general, you want your Range Extender at least six feet away from your router. At most, you want it half-way between where your router is, and where you want the signal to reach. Finding and testing multiple locations may be necessary if wireless interference is a factor within your home.
