Introduction
Before You Begin:
This guide assumes you have the Sengled Home app installed on your smartphone or tablet, and already have your smart plug setup.
Other Ways To Control Sengled Element Devices
Sengled has chosen a very standard Zigbee communication method for many of their products. Because of this, their devices will work with other 3rd party smart hubs.
If you're using another smart hub not provided by Sengled, we offer the following guides for using them.
1 Safe Use of Your Sengled Smart Plug
Input | 110-130 VAC, 60Hz |
---|---|
Maximum Load | 15 Amps |
Maximum Power | 1800 Watts |
Operating Temperature | 4°F ~ 104°F |
Operating Humidity | 8% - 80% non-condensing |
Please consult the information that came with the device you intend to plug in, or a certified electrician if you are not certain.
Your smart plug is designed for lights and small appliances to allow you to turn them on or off remotely, and set timers for any small devices you plug in. There are plenty of other devices that would fit, but would end up going over the load, power, or temperature.
While not extensive, this list can help you gauge if a device you have would work well with your Sengled Smart Plug.
- Lamps
Almost universally, lamps will work fine. An incandescent bulb in most homes takes about 100 Watts, and LED lights take a lot less. - Radios and Speakers
A small radio, speaker, or related small audio device will be fine.
- Coffee Makers
Coffee makers draw around 800 to 1000 watts for basic models. While this is within the ratings, a coffee machine generates heat. Be sure your Smart Plug does not get warm, and that your coffee machine does not draw above the ratings listed. - Space Heaters
A space heater draws around 1600 watts, and the entire purpose of one is to get warm. If it doesn't draw over the maximum listed power, it would most definitely exceed the operating temperature of the Smart Plug. - Anything In A Bathroom
It is highly cautioned against using the Smart Plug in the bathroom, as the humidity from showers and baths is both higher than 80% and it condenses. - Anything Outside
The Smart Plug is not water- or weather-proof.
A smart plug is for use on simple devices to give you the ability to turn them on or off remotely. A smart bulb already gives you that control, and does not need a second device to turn it on or off.
2 Control All Devices or Specific Rooms
- Open the Sengled Home app and select Home at the bottom.
3 Control Individual Devices
- Open the Sengled Home app and select Home at the bottom.
- Select the small arrow > on the room of the devices you'd like to control.
- Select the Single tab. A list of available devices will be displayed. Smart plugs within that room can be turned on or off from here.
4 Set Up Schedules
- Open the Sengled Home app and select Routine at the bottom.
- Select Light Schedules.
- From here, schedules can be created that will automatically turn your smart plug (as well as other specified Sengled devices) on and off at specific times.
5 Set Wake Up Schedules
"Wake Up" scheduling typically works much better with Sengled lighting products due to their ability to adjust brightness. Using a smart bulb instead of a smart plug will allow wake up schedules to wake you up by slowly increasing the brightness in the room gradually, much like a sunrise would gradually fill your room with light.
- Open the Sengled Home app and select Routines at the bottom.
- Select Wake Up.
- From here, special schedules can be set for your devices that are designed to help you wake up more naturally.
