5. BRAVIA Sync

The “BRAVIA” Sync function is exclusive to Sony branded devices. It functions by using "Control for HDMI" (also commonly referred to as HDMI CEC). "BRAVIA" Sync allows for more advanced and automated control between Sony products such as TVs, Blu-ray Disc players, DVD players, and AV amplifiers that have been deemed “BRAVIA” Sync-compatible. These devices can essentially "speak to" one another - allowing for automatic powering on and off, input switching, etc.

To use the “BRAVIA” Sync function with your home theater equipment, be sure that each device has Control for HDMI enabled.

Though your TV and other devices may have Control for HDMI features, it may not also be "BRAVIA" Sync-compatible. Consult your TV's manual/documentation to determine whether or not your TV is "BRAVIA" Sync-compatible.

To turn on Control for HDMI & "BRAVIA" Sync:

  1. Press HOME. The home menu appears on the TV screen.
Sony Remote HOME.
  1. Press Left/Right arrows to select Setup.
Sony Remote Left Right.
  1. Press Up/Down arrows to select the setup category icon, then press SELECT.

6. Sleep Timer

Using the Sleep timer, you can set your system to automatically turn itself off after a pre-set amount of time. The Sleep timer can be set using intervals of 10 minutes.

  1. Press SLEEP.

7. Disable Buttons on Unit

You can disable buttons on your receiver (except for the power button) to help prevent accidental or unintentional button presses by children or others.

  1. Hold down any button you wish to disable for more than 5 seconds. LOCKED will appear on the front panel display to indicate the button has been locked.

  1. While the child lock function is enabled, when trying to use locked buttons, LOCKED will flash on the front panel display. The system can still be operated by using the remote control.
  2. To unlock a locked button, hold down that button for more than 5 seconds until UNLOCK appears on the front panel display.

8. How to Program Remote

The remote control that comes with your Sony unit can be programmed to control your TV, thus reducing the number of remotes needed to control everything.

Keep in mind that when you replace your remote's batteries, it will actually erase this programming. Keep track of the remote codes that ultimately work for you, as you will need to know them for future programming.

  1. While holding down TV I/O, use the number buttons on your remote to enter your TV’s manufacturer’s code (there is an example table below). Release the TV I/O button after entering the code.

  2. Once the button has been released, the remote will attempt to power off your TV.
  3. If the code did not work, your TV will not power off. If this happens:
  4. Try again using a different code. You may have to attempt multiple codes before finding one that operates your TV properly.
  5. If you are unable to find a code that will control your TV, it may be necessary to refer to the manual of your BDVE3100 for a more exhaustive list of remote codes.
