1. Introduction

In This Guide

You'll Learn:

  • How to make use of your Fire Tablet's 'Second Screen' feature to cast video from your tablet to your Fire TV.

2. What is Second Screen?

What is Second Screen? You can use the Second Screen feature to connect your Fire tablet to the Amazon Video app on your Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick. With Second Screen, your TV acts as the primary viewing screen, while your Fire tablet goes into companion mode. You can then use your tablet as a remote to control video playback, or as a customized display for X-ray so you can learn more about the movie or TV show you're watching. You can also quickly browse the web, view your email, and more.

Requirements:

  • A Fire Tablet running Fire OS 2.0 or greater.
  • A compatible TV or media streaming device: Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Edition Television.
  • Make sure your Fire Tablet and Second Screen device are turned on, registered to the same Amazon account, and connected to the internet. You can use separate wireless, Wi-Fi, or wired Internet connections, as long as the Second Screen device and the tablet can both connect to the internet at the same time.
