How to create and use SmartThings Automation Routines with your ecobee Smart Thermostat.
Before We Begin:
You must have your ecobee account setup.
You must have your SmartThings hub and account setup.
2. Ensure Thermostat is Installed
In order to continue, you must already have your ecobee Smart Thermostat installed and setup.
3. Ensure Hub is Installed
In order to continue, your SmartThings hub must be installed and functioning properly with the SmartThings app.
4. Use Routines
Automation routines are automatic tasks performed by chosen smart home devices when:
They are scheduled at a certain time on certain days.
They are triggered by other smart home devices when an event takes place in your home.
To Create a New or Customize an Existing Automation Routine
Launch the SmartThings app.
Go to the Automation tab at the bottom.
From here you can:
Customize a pre-defined routine by tapping the gear wheel in the top right of each icon.
Create a new routine with a custom name by tapping Add a Routine at the bottom.
You will be given a multitude of rules to choose from, that give you a lot of flexibility in creating routines. The more smart home devices you have added in the SmartThings app, the more complex the routines can be.
Scroll through the list of rules, tap the ones you want to use, set the needed parameters and tap Done at the end.
The Success message will show up at the top once you've customized an existing routine or created a new one.
To Use an Automation Routine
Tap a routine within the Automation tab.
If there are routines you frequently use you can add them to the Dashboard.
Select Tap to add favorites.
Add a Star to the right of each routine you want to add to your Favorites then tap Done at the top right.
You can then tap a favorite routine on the Dashboard.
