How to Use the Camera on an Amazon Fire Tablet

2. Use Camera

Launch the Camera app from the main screen.

Within the Camera app you can:

  • Tap the screen to focus on a specific area.
  • Do a pinch or stretch motion with two fingers on the screen or use the volume buttons on the side of the tablet to zoom in or out.

You can do the above before taking photos or while recording videos. You'll see several icons around the screen that trigger different functions of the camera:

Shutter

Shutter icon.

Tap to take photos or tap and hold to capture a stack of photos. A photo counter will appear next to the shutter icon. You can also take photos while recording videos.

Record

Record

Tap to start recording a video and tap again to stop recording. A counter will appear showing the recorded time.

Flash

Flash symbol

For devices that have a rear camera flash, turn the camera flash On, Off or set to Auto.

Camera Switcher

Camera Switch symbol

Switch between the rear-facing or front facing camera.

Film Strip

Film Strip symbol

Open a film strip of the most recent pictures and videos taken with the camera.

Settings

Settings symbol
  • The following settings can be turned on or off:
  • HDR
  • Image Review
  • Best Shot (for supported devices)
  • Panorama
  • Lenticular
  • If supported by the device, Video Quality and Photo Ratio settings can also be changed.
