8. Troubleshoot Controller Issues

Things to consider if you are experiencing Xbox One controller issues:

  • The batteries may have insufficient power. Use a new set of disposable batteries or charge them.
  • Check how many controllers are connected, the console can only have a maximum of eight (8) active controllers connected to it.
  • If the Xbox button is not lit, try turning the controller back on. The controller has a power save feature which turns it off after 15 minutes of inactivity.
  • Other wireless connection-capable devices may have signals interfering with the controller's own signal.
  • Interference may be caused by metallic objects between the console and controller.
  • The distance may be too far. Ensure you are within 19 feet or 6 meters from the console.
  • Bluetooth is used only when to connecting to a PC with Windows 10.
  • The controller may be defective.
