Install the App for Your Kwikset Home Automation Device

1. Introduction: Kwikset: Companion App

The Kwikset range of locks can now connect to an app to give you notifications and allow you to control your locks from your smartphone.

2. SmartThings or Kevo

When it comes to Kwikset devices, you have two apps to choose from. SmartThings and Kevo.

SmartThings not only gives you a dashboard for your lock, but it also lets you connect several other Smart devices to the app.

Kevo is a smart lock app that gives you the ability to create eKeys with smartphones.

3. SmartThings: Install iOS App

1. From the main screen, open the App Store.

2. At the bottom of the screen, tap on Search.

2. Type SmartThings on the search bar at the top.
3. Tap Search to start the search.

2. Tap the App to see its download options.

2. Next, tap the GET button.

2. Tap OPEN once the app is installed.

4. Kwikset: Setup Smartthings App

You'll need to have the Smartthings hub close to your lock for the pairing so it should be done before the physical installation.

2. Tap My Home.

2. Tap the + at the top right corner.

2. Under things, tap Add a Thing.

2. The app will say looking for devices...
3. While it searches, press the "A" button on the back of the lock interior.

2. When the device is found, it will be listed at the top of the screen.
3. You can rename the device if you want.
4. Tap Done.
5. Tap Save.
6. Tap OK to confirm.

5. Kwikset: Physical Installation

Follow the instructions included with your security device.

If you are uneasy installing it yourself, consult a professional.

6. Kevo: Install iOS App

1. From the main screen, open the App Store.

2. Type KEVO on the search bar at the top.
3. Tap Search to start the search.

2. Tap the App to see its download options.

2. Tap OPEN once the app is installed.

7. Kwikset: Setup Kevo App

1. Open the Kevo App.

2. Tap Get Started.

2. Type in your E-mail and Phone Number. Tap Get Started again.

2. You'll be prompted to check your e-mail to confirm your e-mail address.

2. Open your e-mail, and select the Confirm your email link.

2. Follow the instructions on the screen to setup your Kevo account.

2. Go back to the app and log into it using that information.

2. Tap the + sign.

2. Tap Get Started.

2. Remove the battery cover of your lock and press the program button.

2. Your eKey is now being setup.
3. Name your lock and choose your brand, then select Complete Setup.

2. Select OK to complete your lock's setup.

9. Smartthings: Install Android App

2. Search for SmartThings using the search box located at the top
3. Touch the magnifying glass on the on-screen keyboard to search.

2. On the app's install page, touch INSTALL.

2. Review the install prompt that pops up. Once done, touch ACCEPT.
3. Wait for the download to finish. Once done, touch OPEN to launch the app or go back to your apps to access the new app's icon.

10. Kwikset: Setup Smartthings App

You'll need to have the Smartthings hub close to your lock for the pairing so it should be done before the physical installation.
