Repair Issues with Your August Connect Companion App

1. Introduction: August Home: Repair App Issues
While your August Connect can wirelessly attach locks to your Smartphone with your August Home App, sometimes they have issues with that connection.
Follow this guide to resolve those issues.
2. August Home: Verify Connection
Open your August Home App.
If the Wi-Fi icon is gray, Wi-Fi is off.
If the Wi-Fi is off, turn it on by tapping the gray icon. It will turn blue to show Wi-Fi is on.
3. August Home: Verify Batteries
If you've confirmed that the Wi-Fi is on, and you are still unable to connect to your lock, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
Remove the faceplate on your lock and remove one battery.
Place the battery back in and pay attention to the color of the flashing light. If it is red you need to replace all the batteries.
After replacing the batteries (if needed) hold the button on your Connect for 3-4 seconds.
Try to connect again.
4. Android: Restart
Hold down the power button on your Android device. Depending on the manufacturer and model of Android device you have, the location of the power button will vary.
A prompt will appear on-screen. Select Restart.
If the menu does not pop up, continue to hold the power button, and your Android device will shut off.
If you had to shut down your Android device, wait 30 seconds before turning your device back on.
5. August Home: Reinstall Android App
The next steps involve reinstalling your August Home App.
6. Android: Uninstall an App
There are two ways to uninstall apps from your Android device.
Uninstall from Home Screen or App Drawer
Locate the app on your Home Screen or App Drawer. Tap and hold the app icon, and start dragging it around.
Drag the icon to Uninstall at the top then release.
When prompted if you want to uninstall, select OK.
Uninstall from Settings
Open Settings on your phone or tablet.
Select Apps.
Select the app you'd like to uninstall.
Select Uninstall.
When prompted if you want to uninstall, select OK.
7. August Home: Install Android App
Launch the Play Store.
Search for August Home using the search box located at the top.
Touch the magnifying glass on the on-screen keyboard to search.
On the app's install page, touch INSTALL.
Review the install prompt that pops up. Once done, touch ACCEPT.
Wait for the download to finish. Once done, touch OPEN to launch August Home or go back to your apps to access the new app's icon.
8. August Connect: Connect to Lock via Android
Tap the Menu icon.
Tap Settings.
Tap your lock in Lock Settings.
Tap Set Up August Connect.
9. August Connect: Wi-Fi Connect via Android
In order for you to connect your August Connect with your August Home app and Wi-Fi network via Android, you will need to have a working August Smart Lock already set up within the August Home app.
Open your August App.
Tap the Menu icon.
Tap Settings.
Tap your lock in Lock Settings.
Tap Set Up August Connect.
Tap Begin Scan to start connecting to Wi-Fi.
Select your network.
Type in your Wi-Fi password.
The Connect will show that is connecting.
Tap Done.

11. iOS: Restart
Hold down the lock/power button.
Slide to power off when prompted.
Wait until the phone is off.
Hold down the lock/power button until you see the Apple logo.
12. August Home: Reinstall iOS App
The next steps involve reinstalling your August Home App.
13. iOS: Delete an App (Tap)
To remove an app:
From your main screen, locate the app you wish to remove.
Lightly touch and hold the app until it jiggles or vibrates.
Tap X in the upper-left corner of the app.
Tap Delete.
14. August Home: Install iOS App
From the main screen, open the App Store.
At the bottom of the screen, tap on Search.
Type August Home on the search bar at the top.
Tap Search to start the search.
Tap the August Home App to see its download options.
Tap Get.
Tap OPEN once the app is installed.
15. August Connect: Setup via iOS
Open your August App.
Swipe right. In the side menu, tap Set Up New Device.
Tap Set Up An August Connect.
Choose a lock to pair with your Connect.
Tap Connect is Plugged In.
Choose your network and input your Wi-Fi password.
